Acute or overt gastrointestinal bleeding appears in the form of hematemesis, melena, or hematochezia. Chronic or occult gastrointestinal bleeding is not apparent to the patient. Vomiting can also result from various systemic conditions and be diagnosed with careful investigations and intelligence to go on with appropriate management. Although most of the patients were diagnosed with non-infectious gastroenteritis or colitis, the general practitioner also must bear in mind that the vomiting may be alarm symptoms.
