What you'll learn

Spinal vascular malformations are a common and heterogeneous group of diseases classified as acute, subacute, or chronic spinal cord dysfunction. These lesions comprise approximately 3-4 % of all intradural spinal lesions. Most patients with spinal vascular malformations present to neurosurgical attention after a protracted course with severe neurological dysfunction. These are pathologically similar to their intracranial counterparts, but their clinical impact is often comparatively worse and challenging to diagnose. Early, correct recognition of the pathology is mandatory to halt the disease’s progression and minimize permanent spinal cord injury. Learn more in this expert speaker presentation on a spinal vascular malformation designed by Medvarsity and Dosily.

Instructor

Dr. Savith Kumar

MBBS, FRCR (UK), MMed (Singapore), DM (Neuroimaging and Interventional Neuroradiology). Consultant Intervention Neuroradiology

4/5

Dr. Savith is trained in Endovascular Neurosurgeries, which include endovascular treatment of Stroke (Mechanical Thrombectomy), aneurysms (coiling or stenting), arteriovenous malformations, dural arteriovenous fistula, Vein of Galen malformation (embolization), neck and intracranial artery angioplasty/stenting, and preoperative tumor embolization. He has been a part of our institution since Jan 2018 and performed many endovascular procedures along with his team achieving good clinical results. He also has expertise in adult and pediatric Neuroimaging, involving diagnosis of the various spectrum of neurological disorders using advanced MRI and CT imaging techniques.
