DRI values are helpful in calculating the recommended dietary allowances in infants, children, pregnant women, lactating mothers, young adults, and in the elderly. This course is useful for healthcare professionals such as physicians, nurses, nutritionists, dieticians, and physicians practicing alternative medicine (AYUSH), such as homeopathy, Ayurveda, and yoga.

The course guides the healthcare professional to calculate the values for adequate intake of nutrients and set standards of nutrition in feeding programs for large populations, such as schools, nursing homes, prisons, and the army. The course on dietary reference intakes includes an expert talk by Mrs. Haritha Shyam, chief nutritionist, and dietitian at Apollo Hospitals.
