Coronavirus is highly infective; hence IPC and dead body management play a significant role in decreasing the spread of the virus to health care workers and the general public. Managing the dead body of a COVID patient has been a significant challenge during this ongoing pandemic.

All dead bodies are considered ‘potentially infectious,’ and ‘standard precautions’ should be implemented for every case. There is always a question on how to dispose of the dead body of a suspect or confirmed case of Covid‐19? In this regard, the WHO, Government of India, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Directorate General of Health Services (EMR Division), have released specific guidelines, on how to dispose of a COVID positive dead body along with standard precautions for healthcare professionals or relatives handling the body.

This course discusses in detail the guidelines on managing a dead body of a COVID patient.
