The WHO estimates an average mortality rate of 3.4%, which is around 100 times higher than flu — but do note that the average is across age brackets. Current evidence suggests that the fatality rate from Covid-19 ranges from 9% to 19% for older individuals, as well as for people with conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and cancer and those who are immunocompromised.

Even if you are not at high risk yourself, we still all have a public health obligation to take interventions that will prevent spread and overwhelm the health care system. This can only be possible if we have a thorough and exhaustive knowledge of COVID 19 which can help us to implement it in our day-to-day life. As COVID is a respiratory infection and can spread from animals to humans and humans to humans, it has progressively become a pandemic in a short period which awakens us to build up the knowledge to how to break the chain of COVID 19. Facilities for managing and treating COVID patients seem to be a challenge for hospitals and the government.

Unless health care facilities are adequate, no hospital can appropriately treat a COVID patient. These mainly include the space required for the health set up, protective equipment, sanitation, and sterilization equipment, ICU equipment for health care providers whereas beds, mechanical ventilators, oxygen therapy, etc for COVID patients.
