The national accreditation board of hospitals (NABH), which is a part of the quality council of India, has come out with certain quality standards. Patient satisfaction, while always a critical factor, has recently gained momentum in the healthcare space. In the wake of the patient-centered healthcare environment, patients are demanding a bigger role in managing their healthcare, and they expect a higher level of commitment and care from their providers. Many medical facilities are starting to pay attention to patient experience and satisfaction. According to a recent survey, more than half of healthcare practitioners admit that patient satisfaction is one of their top three priorities. All the hospitals including the nursing homes which have accreditation certificate need to follow the standards mentioned by NABH. This quality process is done by identifying certain quality indicators in the process, checking customer satisfaction with the process, and verifying whether any mistakes are committed to carrying out the process.

There are six aims for a quality health care system patient safety which include safety, equitability, evidence-based medicine, accurate timely management, efficient staff, and patient-centered organization. The latter three factors directly influence patient satisfaction.

By the end of this course, you will understand the quality indicators and the examples for quality indicators which are helpful for patient satisfaction.
