Liver failure is due to progressive deterioration of hepatic function in the setting of either acute or chronic liver disease. Acute liver failure is a condition in which the liver fails within a short period of time, encompassing a range of clinical syndromes. It is an uncommon entity. is a condition which shows evidence of coagulation abnormalities (international normalized ratio [INR] >1.5) & any degree of mental alteration (encephalopathy) in a patient without preexisting cirrhosis and with an illness of no more than 24-week duration.
