What you'll learn

STEMI results due to acute obstruction of coronaries as a result of thrombus formation in an atherosclerotic coronary artery. Most of the time’s thrombus occurs due to plaque rupture. The overall prevalence of STEMI is estimated to be 750–1250 per million people. Pre-hospital care is important in patients with STEMI as the vast majority of deaths due to ventricular fibrillation (complication) occur within 24 hours of the symptom onset and half of which occur within the first hour. read more »»

Hence, prompt seeking of medical attention, rapid deployment of the skilled emergency team, and expeditious transport and implementation of reperfusion therapy, all play a significant role in cutting down the mortality. This course management of STEMI consists of a case scenario-based explanation.
