What you'll learn

“Dyslipidemias are disorders of lipoprotein metabolism; these disorders may be manifested by elevation of the total serum cholesterol, triglycerides, low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels a decrease in the high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol. Many epidemiologic and angiographic studies proved a causal relationship between cholesterol levels and cardiac diseases.read more »»

Evaluation of the patient’s risk for cardiovascular disease helps determine which treatment should be initiated and how often lipid analysis should be performed. Sometimes, patients may often have multiple lipid abnormalities. Also, low LDL or triglyceride levels suggest the presence of other medical issues such as liver disease, hyperthyroidism, chronic infections, and cancer. Very high HDL cholesterol levels are often due to genetic causes.
In such situations, it is essential to know how to manage dyslipidemia condition among all patients. In this session, the expert will be discussing the management of dyslipidemia and explains the pharmacologic treatment of dyslipidemia, including HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, bile acid-binding resins nicotinic acid and fabric acid derivatives. Also, this session provides a clear view of what lifestyle modifications should be followed to reduce lipid levels.”
