What you'll learn

Ischemic heart disease (IHD) is referred to as coronary heart disease (CHD) or coronary artery disease (CAD), is a condition characterized by an imbalance between myocardial oxygen supply and demand. Most commonly IHD occurs because of decreased blood supply to myocardium due to obstruction of epicardial coronary arteries due to atherosclerosis (narrowing of arteries caused due to deposition of plaques of fatty material on the inner walls of the arteries). Coronary heart disease is still considered to be a major cause of mortality and morbidity in developed nations.read more »»

In a study conducted using data derived from Framingham Heart Study, it was found that the lifetime risk of developing CHD at the age of 40 years was one in two men and one in three women and that at 70 years was one in three for men and one in four for women. Although mortality due to CHD has declined worldwide over the last few years due to advancements in the treatment and improved healthcare facilities, it is still responsible for more than one-third of all deaths in individuals who are above 35 years of age.

In this course, you will be able to understand regarding STEMI and NSTEMI and learn about the changes that occur in ECV waveforms due to IHD. This course will help you to interpret the ECG changes that occur in patients and helps in the management of patients suffering from IHD.
