  • On a Beginners Level, the audience will learn why and how Continuous Performance Tests (CPT’s) are strongly recommended in the process of Psychological Evaluation of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (A-D/HD).
  •  The Diagnostic Interview, House-Tree-Person Test, Kinetic Family Drawing, and Other Projective Drawings are reviewed, which can assist the Psychologist in the process of Differential Diagnosis of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (A-D/HD).
  •  Two well-known and respected Continuous Performance Tests (CPT’s) are presented. The Conners’ Continuous Performance Test-II (CPT-II) by C. Keith Conners, Ph.D. and MHS Staff, and the Test of Variables of Attention – Version 8 (TOVA-8) by Lawrence M. Greenberg, M.D. are reviewed and explained as accurate measures of inattention and impulsivity.
  • The concept of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (A-D/HD) individuals “Drifting” and shifting gears in the proper sequence and then to get back to the exact spot where they were at cognitively prior to losing focus.

On a Beginners Level, this third Seminar is Part Two: “B” of the second section of a Series of Four Seminars that explain the process of the Psychological Evaluation, and Treatment that Dr. Mitch Spero utilizes to appropriately and accurately diagnose Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. This Seminar explains several Psychological Tests that can assist in the process of Differential Diagnosis to confirm or Rule-out the Diagnosis of A-D/HD. read more »»

Although research may not yet support this view, many psychologists use Projective Tests in the process of Differential Diagnosis. The use of the House-Tree-Person Test, Kinetic Family Drawing, and Other Projective Drawings are clearly explained in the current Seminar.

The Diagnostic Interview is emphasized as being paramount in the Diagnosis of A-D/HD. The Seminar also strongly supports the administration of Continuous Performance Tests (CPT’s) in the psychological assessment process. The Two CPT’s that are presented in this Seminar are the Conners’ Continuous Performance Test – II (CPT-II) by C. Keith Conners, Ph.D. and MHS Staff, and the Test of Variables of Attention-Volume 8 (TOVA-8) by Lawrence M. Greenberg, M.D.
The copyrighted T.O.V.A. Interpretation and the CPT-II Profile Report which both provide computer-generated text and graphs are presented and thoroughly explained. Case Histories are reviewed as examples of the A-D/HD Psychological Evaluation and Treatment.

Next, the empathic respect for individuals Diagnosed as A-D/HD is emphasized in their Psychological Evaluation and Treatment. Structural Family Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Brief Individual Psychotherapy, Play Therapy, and Behavior Modification are strongly recommended.
The necessity of a Treatment Team Approach consisting of a psychologist, psychiatrist, pediatric neurologist, pediatrician, general practitioner, teachers, tutors, parents, spouses, and/or employers is recommended to treat and teach the A-D/HD individuals to learn self-control and how to like themselves, to have better relationships with others, and to succeed to their maximum capability in their personal, academic and occupational lives at the time of the Psychological Evaluation and Psychological Treatment, and long into the future in perpetuity. The goal is for people who are diagnosed as A-D/HD to understand and to learn how to control their own “Drifting” and for them to lead “Stable Lives”. After all, that is what Stable.
