By the end of this course, you’ll be able to understand:
- Learn on a Beginners Level that A-D/HD Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, symptomatology may also be concordant with Anxiety, Depression, Oppositional/Defiant Disorder, and other Mental Health Diagnostic Categories with some of the same diagnostic criteria including, difficulty concentrating, memory impairment, indecisiveness, restlessness, and oppositional and defiant behaviors.
- A-D/HD is both an Input and an Output Disorder. In some cases, but not all, A-D/HD can be treated psychopharmacologically. However, other patients may respond to Individual and Family Psychotherapy without the administration of prescribed medication.
- The processes that makeup A-D/HD will be learned by the audience.
- Dr. Luria’s Theoretical Model of AD/HD, which includes the physiological aspects ranging from the Reticular Activating System located in the lower brainstorm/nervous system, the Executive Functioning of the Cerebral Cortex, the Sensory System, to the Output and Planning System. The importance of a complete Diagnostic Interview is strongly emphasized.

Since 1983, Dr. Mitch Spero, Licensed Psychologist, and Director of Child & Family Psychologists has developed a specialization in the treatment of emotional and behavioral problems of children and adolescents. As a Licensed Psychologist he has extensive experience in dealing with Children of Divorce, Custody Evaluations, Step-family Adjustment Issues, Emotionally Handicapped and Learning Disabled Children, and Children with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. His work with adults has focused on Marriage and Family Therapy, Substance Abuse Counseling, and Individual Therapy for Depression and Anxiety. Dr. Spero is also a Certified and Court Appointed Family Mediator by the Supreme Court of Florida.
Dr. Mitch Spero is also known for having been the Pro-Bono Evaluating Psychologist for Elian Gonzales, a world-famous International Immigration Case. Dr. Spero’s speech was viewed on CNN, MSNBC, and many other Live International News Programs. He has been conducting Immigration Psychological Evaluations in the South Florida Area for decades.
