By the end of this course, you will be able to understand:
- The audience will learn on a Beginners Level that the DSM-5(ICD-10) Diagnosis Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder is most accurately confirmed by a combination of Continuous Performance Tests (CPT’s) that are objectively scored and provided computer-generated reports, and Projective Tests including Projective Drawings that are subjectively scored for Differential Diagnosis. A thorough Diagnostic Interview, and Parent, Teacher, and Self-Report questionnaires are also utilized.
- Projective Tests of various types are used to assess other confounding life factors in the individual’s home, school, and/or work environments. Some of these Personality Tests provide objectively scored computer-generated reports. Other Projective Tests are interpreted by the Evaluating Psychologist in the process of Differential Diagnosis.
- The administration of Continuous Performance Tests (CPT’s) is strongly recommended because no one test in and of itself can completely measure and support the Diagnosis of A-D/HD. However, CPT’s can accurately measure inattention and impulsiveness to one-thousandth of a second.
- A Treatment Team Approach is strongly recommended with a Medical Doctor, a Psychologist, Parents, Tutors, and Teachers all in constant communication to achieve the maximum therapeutic progress and a most positive prognosis.
