Key concepts covered include:

By the end of this course, you will be able to understand:

  • The audience will learn on a Beginners Level that the DSM-5(ICD-10) Diagnosis Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder is most accurately confirmed by a combination of Continuous Performance Tests (CPT’s) that are objectively scored and provided computer-generated reports, and Projective Tests including Projective Drawings that are subjectively scored for Differential Diagnosis. A thorough Diagnostic Interview, and Parent, Teacher, and Self-Report questionnaires are also utilized.
  • Projective Tests of various types are used to assess other confounding life factors in the individual’s home, school, and/or work environments. Some of these Personality Tests provide objectively scored computer-generated reports. Other Projective Tests are interpreted by the Evaluating Psychologist in the process of Differential Diagnosis.
  • The administration of Continuous Performance Tests (CPT’s) is strongly recommended because no one test in and of itself can completely measure and support the Diagnosis of A-D/HD. However, CPT’s can accurately measure inattention and impulsiveness to one-thousandth of a second.
  • A Treatment Team Approach is strongly recommended with a Medical Doctor, a Psychologist, Parents, Tutors, and Teachers all in constant communication to achieve the maximum therapeutic progress and a most positive prognosis.

What you'll learn

On a Beginners Level, this is the second Seminar: Second of a Series of Four Seminars that explain the concepts of understanding the processes that make up the criteria for an appropriate and accurate diagnosis of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (A-D/HD). The Neurological, Behavioral, and Genetic factors are synopsized. read more »»

Seminars Two: Part A and Part B highlight the A-D/HD Psychological Evaluation Process. Seminar Two focuses on the Psychological Evaluation that either rule-out or confirms the presence of many psychological factors. This Seminar explains the process of assessing affective and cognitive levels of functioning. In diagnosing A-D/HD, the use of various different psychological tests are considered to be essential. Personality Tests are used in conjunction with (CPT’s) Continuous

Performance Tests which are accurate to one-thousandth of a second, and

accurately measure inattention and impulsiveness. The CPT’s provide Computer generated reports. Several Personality Tests also produce computer-generated reports. The Personality Tests such as Projective Drawings emphasized in this section, although they can be very helpful may not be supported in the current research.

A-D/HD is described as an input and an output disorder involving Sustaining Attention vs. “Drifting”. The importance of a thorough Diagnostic Interview is presented. The Differential Diagnosis which must include the perceptions of each child, adolescent or young adult is of paramount importance. Several Personality Tests are reviewed as being utilized in the determination of the levels of affective and cognitive functioning in the Psychological Evaluation of A-D/HD. Some patients in a confirmed diagnosis of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity often

have difficulty shifting gears in the proper sequence, in that they have trouble getting back to the same exact spot where they were prior to losing focus or “drifting.”

A Treatment Team Approach with Medical Doctors, Pediatricians, Psychiatrists, and Psychologists, and Neurologists is strongly recommended to enhance and maximize the Psychotherapeutic progress hopefully resulting in a positive prognosis. Each segment of the four-part series is further explained in the book by Dr. Mitch Spero the owner of Stable Life, L.L.C. entitled, “A-D/HD Guide for Drifters in a Squirrel Moment Testing, Diagnosis and Treatment of A-D/HD.”
