At the early stage of illness, patients may present to the emergency department where the diagnosis is challenging due to the presence of common non-specific signs and symptoms. This session aims to outline the infectious causes of meningoencephalitis, differential diagnosis of infections, interpret CSF findings typical to infection, and compare empiric medications recommended for patients with differing ages and risk factors. This session will also cover initial management options and clearly describe the courses of treatment with a focus on children and neonates.
