What you'll learn
In this module of bone metabolism, we will learn to deal with calcium and phosphorus metabolism starting at the fetal stage. As it is difficult to study the biochemical processes in the fetus, most of the studies are done on animals and applied to humans. This chapter describes the genetic basis for metabolism and the role of important molecules and channels.
