What you'll learn

Diagnostic ultrasound is a rapidly evolving imaging technology that is utilized in both industrialized and developing countries. Since its introduction, its application was widespread in anatomical imaging, blood flow measurement, and evaluation of physiology in almost all aspects of medicine. The ultrasound imaging technique has replaced or complemented a large number of radiographic and nuclear medicine procedures and has opened new diagnostic investigation areas. read more »»

A good medical practice requires ultrasonography practitioners to consider the risks and benefits of diagnostic examinations and to take all proper measures to ensure maximum patient benefit with minimum risk. Ultrasound mapping is one of the procedures which uses ultrasound to map the vessels for various procedures. Ultrasound mapping is an imaging test used to check superficial veins in the arms and legs.

It is performed as a part of preoperative planning for procedures such as sclerotherapy and varicose vein surgery. This is also used to determine the veins for dialysis and bypass grafting. This module teaches you how to prepare for and perform preoperative vein-artery ultrasound mapping and scan for signs of upper limb venous thrombosis. Including both Learn and Test modes, the online simulator offers three clinical scenarios that test your ability to perform this type of scan.
