The WHO estimates an average mortality rate of 3.4%, which is around 100 times higher than flu — but do note that average is across age brackets. Current evidence suggests that the fatality rate from Covid-19 ranges from 9% to 19% for older individuals, as well as for people with conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and cancer and those who are immunocompromised. Even if you are not at high risk yourself, we still all have a public health obligation to take interventions that will prevent spread and overwhelm the health care system. This can only be possible if we have a thorough and exhaustive knowledge on COVID 19 which can help us to implement it in our day to day life.

As COVID is a respiratory infection and can spread from animals to humans and humans to humans, it has progressively become a pandemic in a short period which awakens us to build up knowledge to how to break the chain of COVID 19. Diagnosis is an important aspect in treating a disease. Precautions and guidelines during testing of a disease is very important for appropriate diagnosis. In the same way precautions during the diagnosis are also important which help in preventing spread to the HCW’s from diseased patient. This course gives a detailed description on how to train health care workers who work in laboratories/diagnostic labs.
