This can be attributed to advances in medicine and control of infections. The growth of the older population is due to a general increase in the overall population size. As more people are living until advanced old age, the demographic changes imply much more than just an increase in chronic morbidity.

Geriatric epidemiology approaches these challenges by studying the health, functional status, and quality of life of representative populations of individuals. This course helps you to understand in detail the epidemiology of aging, what is aging, and how it affects the health in various countries.
