Sarcoidosis is an inflammatory disease characterized by the presence of non-caseating granulomas. It is a multisystemic disorder of unknown cause characterized by the formation of immune granulomas in involved organs, especially the lungs and lymphatic system. It is a ubiquitous disease with an incidence estimated at around 16.5/100,000 in men and 19/100,000 in women. Mortality is estimated at between 0.5–5%. Treatment mainly depends on the type of case like in most benign cases which spontaneous resolution within 24–36 months, no treatment is required.
