What you'll learn

At present, the number of women who are prone to cervical cancer is increasing day by day. According to the National Cancer Institute, regular screening reduces the risk of developing or dying from cervical cancer by 80%. This can be detected at an early stage by a smear called a cervical smear. The cervical smear is a test used to detect pre-cancerous and cancerous changes in the uterine cervix.read more »»

A cervical smear is also known as a pap smear. This can help in easy diagnosis and prompt treatment of cervical cancers. This involves collecting cells from your cervix I.e., the lower, narrow end of your uterus that’s at the top of your vagina. It can also detect abnormal cells and this can help in halting the possible development of cervical cancer. This is generally recommended once every 3 years for women over 21 years of age. The deaths due to cervical cancer can be drastically reduced by performing this cervical smear or pap smear and can save many lives of women of the future generations.

Pap tests are very accurate. Regular Pap screenings reduce cervical cancer rates and mortality by at least 80 percent. Knowledge of how to obtain cervical smear, where to collect, advantages, disadvantages, indications, contraindications are very important in performing the procedure on patients.
Therefore, this course teaches you how to prepare for and assist with a cervical smear, correct specimen preparation, and labeling for a cervical smear test. Including both Learn and Test modes, the online simulator offers two clinical scenarios that test your ability to perform this type of routine examination.
